Việtnam’s Declaration of Independence

As poetically written by our ancestors, we declared our independence from all foreign tyrannies. No matter how long it would take and how much bleedings would have to occur, we were determined to prevail over our enemies.

We, the Vietnamese People, united to declare our independence. We held these truths to be self-evident:

“Our lands ought to be governed by our own people;
Our destiny ought to be determined by our God.
Why would any foreign tyrannies, risk invading our lands?
As the will of our people would guarantee its defeat.”
